I was catching up on the paperwork,
(parking ticket appeal or chasing creditors)
when the phone rang.
It was an exhaust pipe salesman,
apparently for just under £2k we can retro-fit a catalytic converter to our vehicles, to keep them on the road after the London Emission Zone comes into force.
'Time to start saving' methinks.

packed
The number of people emailing and calling us for boxes is reaching epidemic numbers.
I'm regularly sending a van off to the wholesalers, with a list of customers wanting boxes, bubblewrap, tissue and tape.
We will lend clients tapeguns, Often we will give customers an opened pack of tissue, and we rarely charge for sticky tape. We need to re asses our packing box system, and make sure it is designed for the type of moves we regularly do in SE1. Usually clients ask for a dozen boxes. We will deliver 12 medium strong boxes for books and cds, and some larger boxes for clothes, and saucepans. We like to add bubble wrap and tissue for glass, and plates. Most people pay about £40 for 20 boxes and some bubblewrap. We leave more boxes than the client will need, and collect any unused boxes on the day of the move - we don't charge for unused boxes!

weather
We would gladly cancel our moves on rainy days.
Some days it is too hot work, the snow last week added to the danger of driving on the M40.
We simply don't have that luxury.
If you need to move on a certain day, we can't change the weather, but we will complete the move. It may take longer, but we will complete the move.

pricing
I'm happy with the level of service delivered by bigvan.com. We are polite, diligent, and work hard.
Like many firms, our overheads are increasing,we have decided to put our prices up by about 10% this still places well below our competitors, and here, whilst we are not trying to compete on price, we are happy to continue to provide a top service at a top price.

connected
My ISP ha fallen over! fortunately my local pub has 'free' Wi-Fi.
I am no stranger to parking up and finding open networks,
but this is my first time in a room full of the joys of licensed premises.
The fact that the bar maid tried to charge me the price of a pint for an orange juice,
and I can barely see my screen for the tobacco smoke, merely adds to the 'edgy' feel of blogging on the edge. It is closing time soon, and I can return to the safety of my mobile office, and continue my post, now that last orders has been called.
tomorrow we have a simple one bedroom flat move from neighbouring SE16 to Old Kent Road, we've moved this guy in and out of his flat a few times, but he has sold it now. We had 2 fellas in there today packing boxes, and getting his clothes ready and the customer was kind enough to call me this evening to thank me for their work.
Should be finished by 3.00pm tomorrow.
Off to Reading and Birmingham for the Vegan Society on Thursday
